OMG CONVENTION :D

Today was Armageddon. Not the bad end-of-the-world kind, but the kind that is the name of an Australasian geek culture convention. The best kind!

Sylvester McCoy, Sophie Aldred, and Paul McGann were in attendence for panels and signings. <333

And I got Paul McGann to sign my copy of the BFA 'Scherzo' and he liked my cosplay so much that he filmed me on his phone for his video diary and I died of fangirl joy.

I was dressed in timelord regalia, and my bezzie-mate was Captain Holly Short of the Artemis Fowl books:

She has also blogged about our fabulous day.

Who on earth gets more attractive as they get older? Paul McGann apparantly ... Seriously, look! Undeniably prettier now than he was in '96 (which is quite a feat).

And here is me dying of fangirl joy:

OMG THREE HOURS OF DW PANELS:

ALSO:

And to top it off, it was a beautiful, blue-sky summer day. I have the lens flare to prove it!

EDIT:

And a video of how frakkin excited we were. Because it makes me happy.

This is so great--wish I could have been there, but I'm in Utah, it's a bit of a walk. I do have a friend there--here of LJ she is green_river. She is cosplaying River Song, in the fatigues. Hopefully you've seen her about.

I'm going to Gally in February, where I will have two costumes, one's a surprise, and the other is another River cosplay, complete with white motorcycle jacket and belts and fanny pack and--oy, all those accessories! But it's been a blast putting this together.

I love your cosplay! I have to know--how the hell did you get the collar to stand up so well? What did you make it out of? AT some point in the future, I feel a Time Lord cosplay coming on. Eeek. But you look great! My friend said she would get some autographs for me--I hope she can pull it off! Again, congrats on the good time.

Aww, I didn't spot a River Song, just a lot of 11th Doctors (two of which were tiny and adorable!) but I only went for one day - I'll check her lj out to see if she squee-posts about the event too!

Do direct me to a post about your cosplay when it comes time to make one :) I'm gonna do a seperate post for the cosplay when my brain is working again, but the collar is made of cardboard based on instructions found here. I just upscaled the design. :P

What did you think of the new 8th Doctor costume? I'd love the opinion of someone who got to see it up close.

I didn't actually hear all the goss about the costume til I got home and lj-ranted about the day. I thought it was just the sonic that was given to him by Weta (which is beautiful up close - and meant that I spent the rest of the day giggling and telling my friend that she touched Paul McGann's sonic screwdriver, because I'm that mature, yeah...) I thought the jacket was just his own, but yeah ... he looked gooooood. :P

Excellent. I kind of wonder what they'll be using it for. It seems like a lot of effort for some new Big Finish covers, here's hoping for a multi-Doctor story on the TV series soon.

Furthermore, that Timelord costume is fantastic!
